3. Which piece is the offensive weapon against the enemy?

Reflect

Scripture warns believers that Satan is an accuser and liar – but no one is left without both protection and a weapon from God. Paul describes God’s armor as truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation. God’s truth defeats Satan’s lies; His righteousness makes Satan’s accusations worthless. His peace, faith, and salvation protect believers against Satan’s weapons of temptation, despair, and darkness.

But it’s the sword of the Spirit that is our weapon against our enemy: the truth of God’s Word. When Satan’s lies are loud, we need to fight back with God on our side, declaring what He says is true. Satan might feel powerful when he attacks us, but Jesus has already won the battle against him. Satan has no chance!

Regular time in God’s Word is important in every season, not just when you’re under attack. As the Holy Spirit works in you while you read Scripture, He saturates you increasingly with God’s truth, transforming you into His image and preparing you for the next time Satan tries to attack you. Cling to God and His Word, and He will fight for you.

Respond

Do you view God’s Word as a weapon against the enemy? Without shame or judgment, take inventory of your current spiritual rhythms like prayer, worship, and Bible reading. Where in your day or week can you make a few minutes to intentionally spend with God? Spend some time in prayer thanking God for His armor to protect you against Satan's attacks.
