Revelation is often thought of as a book about the future, but many passages reveal what’s happening now in the spiritual realm. Today’s reading reveals that Satan is accusing and deceiving the whole world. He hates God’s creation and wants to destroy it. He has been defeated, but until Jesus returns, he has limited power to spread darkness on earth.
We are all made in God’s image – the crowning achievement of His creation – and that means we are Satan’s biggest targets. Not every problem we face is a spiritual one, but we can’t ignore the presence of our enemy.
Satan wants you to believe that you are the mistakes you’ve made, that you are the diagnosis you’ve received, or that you are what’s been done to you. When he accuses you, he wants you to believe that God won’t accept you. But Jesus has already won the victory! Revelation 12:11 says Satan has been defeated by the blood of the Lamb, which is Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection. This victory is final – let that be the hope you carry.

Have you felt or heard accusations before? What did they try to tell you about yourself? How did you combat those accusations? Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the victory over the enemy through Jesus, and be honest with Him about how you see yourself. Ask Him to help you believe what He says about you rather than what the enemy says.
