1. Where does Paul say to take our worries?

2. What will God’s peace do in us?

3. What defines the things we should think about?

Reflect

Paul, writing long before the digital age, warned believers that what they filled their minds with had an effect on their overall well-being. There will always be things to worry about, but God always cares for His people. Jesus came to bring peace, which is more than the absence of pain or hardship. His peace comes from trusting that He is always good and always in control.

There are more things than ever to fill our minds with today, many of which are important. However, we can’t forget to continually return to the truth and hope of the gospel. Jesus came to a broken and fallen world, and He came to heal and save. We must remember that no matter what surrounds us, Jesus can restore it.

When you have the peace that only God brings, others will take notice. You have an opportunity, along with believers around the globe, to join God’s work, bringing hope to the world. It starts with bringing your worries to Him, knowing His character, trusting in His promises, and remembering He is always with you.

Respond

How would you describe your typical thought life? Does it line up with the descriptions Paul provided in verse 8? What have you learned about God through reading His Word this week, and who can you share this with? Spend some time in prayer thanking God for His character and asking Him to help you remember His promises.
