Reflect

When discovering God’s purpose for my life, where do I even begin?

We start with God. He is the Creator, and we’re His creation. He provides the owner’s manual.

In Genesis 1, we meet the first human beings (enter Adam and Eve). What separates them from the rest of creation is that they have been created in the image of God. This was true of them, and it’s true of us. This is our identity.

God then gives Adam and Eve their role within creation. By His side, He wants them to reign over of the rest of the created world. This work began in the Garden of Eden. God wants them to work the ground, be fruitful and fill the entire earth. Working with God, they would extend Eden to the ends of the earth.

It’s important to note that Eden was more than a garden, and tending to it was more than a job. Eden signified a sacred place where God and humans lived together in perfect harmony. More than anything else - this is what God wants for you. This is what you were made for.

You were made to be with God.

Respond

How can you be intentional about being with God today? God is always present. It’s up to me and you to become aware of his presence. A simple way to do this is by inviting God into our day. Be with God on the drive home and as you walk your dog. Invite God into the meeting you lead or into a tough conversation you need to have. Hold space to be with God today. There’s a time to speak and a time to listen, but every minute counts. He wants to be with you.
