Don't wander.

Series: FOBO (Fear Of Better Options) | Week 2: How Do I Find The One?

Proverbs 7:6-9, 24-25

“While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path by her house. It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell... So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.”

How do you keep the fear of better options out of your committed relationships? Let these verses from Proverbs 7 guide you. Just like the young man in these verses, you have fork-in-the-road decisions you make every day. He made decisions to walk toward the temptation, in darkness. Just a few verses later we see Solomon’s instruction in how to avoid this: don’t let your heart stray and don’t wander. Your heart will deceive you if left unchecked. Don’t wander aimlessly because you will likely end up in a place you never intended.

Respond

 1. Are there any situations in your life right now where you might be walking toward temptation, even unintentionally? Entertaining thoughts that are causing you to walk the line of temptations? Pause for a minute to ask God to reveal these things to you.

2. Confess these to God and to a trusted friend or group member who will help hold you accountable in walking away instead of toward temptation.
