Reflect
Yesterday we read about Joseph’s unexpected detour – his journey to Egypt as a slave. Today, we see how the detour started to reveal divine plans. God was with Joseph, blessing him with success. It started with a position in the home of a wealthy, influential person. It turned into greater responsibility, which led to even greater blessing. And as we see multiple times in today’s passage, Joseph’s success was from God. His detour wasn’t the desired or final destination. It was the divine plan.

Whatever detours we face in our lives, we can trust the same is true. Our detours may not be our desired or final destination, but they can be part of God’s plan. He is always present and active, even in the midst of a detour. Nothing is wasted. It’s all being woven together by our heavenly Father.

What detours have caused you to question God’s plan? How does Joseph’s story inspire you? Is there a step you can take to strengthen your faith, whether you’re on a detour or not? Who else can you encourage with what you’re reading this week?
