The touch of Jesus.

Series: The Gospel of Luke: Settled in Spirit | Week 5: Make A Bold Move

Read Luke 5:12-13

Discover
1. What word(s) does Luke use to describe the severity of the man’s leprosy?
2. What was life like for a leper in Jesus’ day (see these verses for more)? What stands out to you about how he approaches Jesus?
3. What is the significance of how Jesus heals the man?

Respond
1. Put yourself in the place of the leper in this story. Imagine his extreme loneliness and desperation as he boldly yet humbly approaches this man named Jesus. Have you ever felt similarly? Unlovable? Untouchable? Approach Jesus now and imagine the love in His touch as He says to you, “I am willing. Be healed.”
2. Take a few minutes now and ask God to help you see anyone around you who may be hurting, lonely, and in need of the healing touch of Jesus. Ask for Holy Spirit inspired boldness to reach out to them with the love and compassion Jesus demonstrated to the leper.

For Families with Kids at Home
Today, talk to your kids about looking out for those who are hurting, lonely, and in need of Jesus. Help them to be ready for what they can say and do in a situation where a peer is struggling and needs someone to show them the love of Jesus.
