Power for the Mission

Series: Summer Road Trip | Week 4: Fill Up Before You Go

Read Acts 19:1-7 in your personal Bible or at the link provided.

Review
1. Where did Paul travel?
2. How did John’s baptism differ from baptism in the name of Jesus?
3. What happened when Paul laid his hands on the believers?

Reflect
Paul continued his travels to Ephesus and found several believers. He introduced them to Jesus, and when they were baptized, they received the power of the Holy Spirit to speak in different languages and to speak forth the word of God. In other words, they received power to accomplish the mission they’d been given as followers of Jesus.

We’ve been given His power today. When we choose to follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit fills us and guides us. He gives us a mission, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20), and He gives us the power to do so. The Holy Spirit was alive, active, and working in Paul’s day, and He’s alive, active, and working in us.

How aware are you of the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life? Would you say you let Him guide you in daily decisions? Do you let His power work through you to spread His hope to those around you? If you haven’t made the decision to follow Jesus, could today be your day? (If you want to talk with someone about what it means, let us know at tpcc.org/Jesus.)

Respond
Based on what you just read, what do you think God is prompting you to do in response? Write it down, share it with a friend, and take a step to start making it happen. Be sure to set your alarm for 12:12 pm to join us for prayer and fasting this week (more info below).

Prayer and Fasting Week
