Fear of not being enough.

Series: The Way Back | Week 1: From Fear

Matthew 1:22-25
All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.

In his dream, the angel reminds Joseph that Isaiah prophesied long ago that the Messiah would be born to a virgin, essentially telling him, ‘You can trust this Joseph, you can be sure.’ Despite assurance from God that he was doing the right thing, that he was going to witness God fulfilling a promise, Joseph probably still harbored fears of not being enough. God has just tasked him with a giant responsibility – you are going to raise the Son of God!

Do you ever struggle with the fear of not being enough? Of not having what it takes to be the husband, father, wife, mother, friend, boss, employee, or student that your people need you to be? Take heart in the fact that, if God called you to a task, He will give you everything you need to complete it. Ask God to overcome your fear with the knowledge that you are enough in Him.
