A soft heart.

Series: Resilient | Week 6: On the Other Side

Genesis 47:27-28, 49:33-50:1
“. .Jacob lived for seventeen years after his arrival in Egypt, so he lived 147 years in all. . . When Jacob had finished this charge to his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, and joined his ancestors in death. Joseph threw himself on his father and wept over him and kissed him.”

Are you noticing a theme of weeping in Joseph’s life? After his tearful reunion with his brothers, God grants Joseph the blessing of being reunited with his father, Jacob – also a tearful reunion. Jacob’s passing, after 17 years in Egypt with Joseph, brings yet another occasion for Joseph to weep. Joseph’s life is an example of resilience, faithfulness, and a remarkable ability to keep his heart soft through pain.

Respond in Prayer
Ask God to help you follow Joseph’s example – to be faithful with what’s in front of you, to allow pain to shape you and for the ability to keep your heart soft through it all. Check out this article for some warning signs of a hard heart.
