In Daniel 9, Daniel is now an old man reflecting back on his nearly seven decades of exile in Babylon. God allowed Jerusalem to go into exile because of their continual disobedience and hardened hearts toward Him. But Daniel knew God hadn’t abandoned them; He was working on restoring them in a way that would eclipse everything they were going through. Because of this, Daniel stayed faithful to God and wasn't distracted by what was holding him captive.
