The Surprise of Sadness – January 27 & 28
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NLT)
Read these verses before your discussion:
Ecclesiastes 7 & 8
Dive deeper into this week’s sermon content. Use these questions to help guide your group discussion.
- What stood out to you from studying Ecclesiastes 7-8 this week?
- Sometimes it can be tempting to numb pain instead of allowing God to be with you and teach you something. Have you ever been tempted to gloss over someone else’s pain instead of empathizing, or numb yourself from experiencing pain yourself?
- This week we looked at Galatians 6:2 (above). If we truly want to obey Christ, it’s our responsibility to lean into others’ sadness and carry burdens together. Where might God be asking you to share someone else’s burden? In what areas could you use some help right now?
- Has God used grief or sadness to lead you closer to him? If so, how? If not, how might he be redeeming your pain to experience his character and faithfulness?
