Parents are the primary spiritual influence in the life of their child so we want to come alongside you as you lead your kid to Jesus. This is a space for you to see the Scripture reference and Bible story from the weekend, along with provided activities that foster conversations about Jesus at home.

Bible Verse

“I am the one and only Lord. I am the only one who can save you.” Isaiah 43:11, NIRV

In February, your child will continue learning from the Bible through new stories, engaging worship, and activities that help reinforce the lesson. We want to serve your kids well by ensuring that they experience Jesus on their level! This month will focus on two characters who were called to play a big role in God’s plan to save his people. Your kid will learn the story of Joseph being sent to Egypt for a special mission. Then they will hear about how God used Joseph to save his family. Next, they will learn the story of baby Moses and discover what God asked him to do. Finally, they will learn about the Passover and how God promised to protect His people. We can’t wait to see your family at church this month!

February 3: Genesis 37

Joseph is sent to Egypt.

Ask your child: Where was Joseph taken? (Egypt)

Draw together: With markers or crayons, encourage your child to draw Joseph wearing the most colorful robe he or she can imagine. See how creative they can be! Based on the Bible story, ask them to remember why Joseph received such a beautiful gift from his father. Ask them whether Joseph’s brothers were happy or sad, and then see if they can remember where Joseph’s brothers sent him. Remind them that the story doesn’t stop there, and that God had a very special plan for Joseph to help save his family.

February 10: Genesis 42-46; 50

Joseph saves his family.

Ask your child: Whose plan is good? (God's plan is good!)

Read together: In your Bible, or using your kids’ Bible, read the story of Joseph together. We recommend the Jesus Storybook Bible because it always points to Jesus. If you have that Bible, this story is found on pages 76-83, and it includes the story from the previous week as well. Discuss the story after reading together. Explain to your kids that even when things go wrong, God’s plan is good.

February 17: Exodus 1-4

Moses was born and called.

Ask your child: Who was placed in a basket? (Moses)

Pray together: In the Bible story, Moses’ mother hid him in a basket to keep him safe. Using a baby doll or figurine, play hide and seek with your kids. Take turns letting each of you hide the baby, and then let the others search for the hidden baby. Remind them that God saved Moses’ life when he was a baby so that he could grow up to save God’s people from the king. Later, Jesus would come to earth to save us from our sin! When we think of what Moses did, we can be reminded of what Jesus did!

February 24: exodus 5-12

The Plagues and the Passover

Ask your child: Who took our punishment for sin? (Jesus!)

Pray together: Talk with your child about how the Bible calls Jesus the Lamb of God. In the Bible story, the blood of the lamb saved God’s people, and Jesus saved us too when He died on the cross. Sit somewhere cozy and cuddle up with your preschooler. Encourage them that we can talk to God anywhere and anytime. Lead them in a prayer of thankfulness for who Jesus is and what he has done for us. Ask your child to tell God why they are thankful for Jesus.
