When things go as God intended.

Series: The Way Back | Week 3: From Chaos

Luke 2:8-15

“That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

As Joseph and Mary walked through the chaos of the birth of Jesus, another group of people showed up to see Him in the manger—shepherds who had been out in the fields with their flocks. How did the shepherds know what was happening? Did they show up by accident? No, these verses show us God had a plan for the events of this chaotic night. His plan was unfolding exactly as He had ordered it long ago.

Do you tend to miss God in the chaotic moments of your life? Do you look to Him when things don’t seem to be going as you intended? Ask God to show you a bigger perspective, to be able to see order as God intended, not necessarily as you did.
