The pace and presence of Jesus.

Series: We Are TPCC | Week 3: Healthy

Mark 5:35-36, 40-42
“While He was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, ‘Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.’ But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.’. . [Jesus] took the girl’s father and mother and His three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. Holding her hand, He said to her, ‘Talitha koum,’ which means ‘Little girl, get up!’ And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.”

Jesus performs two miracles in the same day and He performs each one while remaining fully present with each individual. Note His interactions with each one: He takes time to speak with the woman who touches Him and He takes time to address Jairus’ fears before healing his daughter.

Respond in Prayer
Take a few minutes to reflect now on how you usually respond when you feel there’s too much to do and not enough time to do it. Do you feel as though you get stuck in fear and anxiety, numbing with entertainment and addictions to avoid taking the next step? Or do you start striving, becoming frantic and unfocused, numbing with busyness and activity to avoid what’s going on in your internal life? Ask God to help you stop any bad habits that you’re noticing and, instead, give you strength to walk with Him at the pace and presence of Jesus.
