The One who sits on the throne.
The twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, "You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased."
This is such a powerful image. These twenty-four elders could begin to think they are more important than they really are…after all, they have one of the exclusive seats around Jesus. What do they do? They lay down their crowns at the feet of Jesus and direct their focus and affection towards Him. In other words, this worship service wasn’t about them.
Spend some time today simply praising Jesus for who He is. Not for what He’s done for you but for His character and His holiness. Make a list of some qualities and characteristics that are uniquely His.
