Matthew 7:12
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”
The Golden Rule is something we probably all grew up with but Jesus actually said it first! It’s a HUGE kingdom ethic. Put others first. Jesus even goes as far as to say, “this is the essence of it all!” This is the essence behind every law of God’s kingdom. Jesus not only taught this, He lived it. His whole ministry on earth was all about putting others first.
In many religions, the Golden Rule is taught in a negative form: “Don’t do to others what you don’t want done to you.” What difference does it make to you that Jesus states it positively? Today, go beyond not doing the wrong thing; take it a step further and think of a way that you can show goodness and mercy to someone as you might want them to show it to you.
