Series: Good News! | Week 3: Living on Purpose

Read Philippians 2:3-4
“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

Discover
1. What practical Do’s and Don’ts does Paul give for how to live out the unity he implored in verse 2?
2. How does the attitude of these verses differ from the attitude of the world?
3. Why does an overall focus on others, rather than self, lead to unity?

Respond
1. Do you struggle with comparing yourself to others, whether it be from a position of superiority or envy? How could viewing others as fellow image-bearers of God help change your perspective?
2. Ask God now how you can take a genuine interest in someone else this week.

For Families with Kids at Home
When you get upset or irritated as a parent, is it because of your kids, or because of the ways you’re being inconvenienced in what you want to do? Today, reflect on the times you find yourself losing patience and ask God to search your motives and your heart. Ask him for help in not looking out for your own interests, but truly seeking the interest of your kids.
