Order in the midst of chaos.

Series: The Way Back | Week 3: From Chaos

Luke 24:1-7

But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.”

Thirty plus years of raising Jesus and not much has changed for Mary as His life comes to an unexpected end. Her baby—the one they said would be the savior of the world— was arrested, sentenced to death, and nailed to a cross. It was a confusing time, a chaotic time, and not what people were expecting to happen. But, after three days of darkness and the unknown, Jesus’ lifeless body began to breathe! He rose! Jesus defeated death! What seemed like the ultimate chaotic ending to the Christmas story was really a part of God’s blueprint all along. God had control and He was creating order in the midst of chaos.

The truth of the Christmas story, ending ultimately in the death and glorious resurrection of Jesus, is that God came to Earth for you. He made a way through this crazy and chaotic plan, for sinful man to make his way back to peace with God and be with Him forever. Do you believe this truth for yourself? You can pause right now to admit to God your need for Him and for His forgiveness in your life. Thank Him for sending Jesus to be the Savior of the world and for providing a way for you to have peace with Him because of that. If you have accepted this truth for yourself, take a minute to ask God who in your life needs to hear this gospel message and for an opportunity to share it with them.
