Never stop looking for lost people.
week 1: The martian
Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!
So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
God really loves everyone, including people who are lost.
At Traders Point, all of our planning, preparation, and prayer is done with lost people in mind. It’s why our desire is that everyone who has experienced God’s love through Jesus would jump in and be “on mission” with us—investing in the lives of people, inviting them to experience our church, serving in such a way that would put people at ease and diminishing distractions so people can clearly hear the gospel message. Reaching more lost people is why we do everything we do, including offer multiple services and start more campuses!
The goal isn’t to grow bigger as a church. Our goal is that we would never stop looking for one lost person because God never stops looking for us. As long as there is at least one more person in the world who is far from God, Traders Point will strive to reach them, because everyone matters to God.
Consider the lost people in your life and how God could be asking you to reach out to them. Tell your group this week how they can pray for you in reaching one lost person in your life.
