1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
At Traders Point, we want to be known as the church that loves people well. Look back at these verses and notice all the things loving others is greater than—incredible gifts, possessing all knowledge, and faith that moves mountains. If we don’t love others well, we are nothing and we gain nothing. Rest assured, we won’t water anything down, but in 2020 and beyond, we want to fling the doors of our church wide open to anyone and everyone. We want to make the simple gospel message of Jesus’ love loud and clear.
What work do you do in the name of Jesus without the motivation of love behind it? Take a moment now to confess that to God ask Him how you can truly love others well. Set some goals for 2020 in this most important area of loving others.
