Is God speaking to you?

Series: Asking for a Friend | Week 5: The Rest of the Questions

John 14:8-9
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?

Romans 8:26
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

If you want to know who God is and what he’s speaking to you, spend lots of time with Jesus. You can start by reading the words of Jesus (start with the book of John) and listening to the Holy Spirit. Every time you take action, his voice becomes clearer: Listen when you pray (listen more than you talk), listen to others and step out in courage.

Ask yourself today what you’re listening to and putting your trust in each day. Is it God? Or something the world offers? Discuss in your group this week where you might struggle to know if God is speaking to you.
