Luke 1:34-35
Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.
The unknown usually follows the unexpected and Mary’s story is no exception. Faced with the unexpected news that she, a virgin, was going to birth the Son of God. Mary’s first response is, ‘But how can this happen?’ Notice the angel’s response. He doesn’t go into details as to how it will happen, he focuses on the who. The Holy Spirit would come upon her and His power would overshadow her!
Has God called you to do something and your first response to Him was, ‘how?’ How can this happen? I’m_____ (just a student, a single parent, too old, too messed up, too inexperienced). God is asking you to not get lost in the how and, instead, get lost in the Who. There is absolutely nothing the Holy Spirit can’t overshadow. Ask Him to come upon you and overshadow you through your unknown.
