Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
When Jesus calls you to come to Him, He makes it simple. Notice what Jesus doesn’t say before the command to come: ‘Go clean up your life, your past, the addiction… and then come’ or ‘First make sure you know all of the answers about me and have done all the research… and then come.’ Jesus wants us to simply come to Him as we are with our mistakes, imperfections, unanswered questions, and all.
As you pause for a moment to reflect on 2019, where in your life have you been adding too much to Jesus’ simple command to come to Him? If there truly is nothing you can do in your own power or strength to earn your salvation or His love, why are you still trying? Come to God right now, empty-handed, and thank Him for His gift of unconditional love.
