Battling shame.

Series: Summer in the Psalms | Week 1: Walk of Shame

Psalm 25:1-3 NIV
In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.

Shame is a beast of an emotion, much heavier and darker than other emotions. Shame, at its worst, leads us to this thought: I am the worst thing that I’ve ever done, or that has been done to me. Shame says, "I am a bad person." It takes a mistake you made, or something that was done to you, and makes it your identity.

David takes his shame straight to God and gets really vulnerable. When he does this, he's reminded of who God is and is able to walk out of shame and into his true identity in Christ.

What shame are you battling today? Take it straight to God and get real with Him about what you're facing. Ask God to help you walk out of shame and into your true identity that can only be found through a relationship with Jesus! Have your group pray for you in this area this week.
