A soldier’s faith.

WEEK 5: Help

Day 1

Luke 7:1-5
When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people, he returned to Capernaum. At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave. So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said, “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.”

The Roman soldier asked Jesus for help. The soldier was highly respected in the Roman army, advancing up the ranks for his skill in combat. Even then, he asks for help when he hears about the healing power of Jesus.

The solider had to take a step of faith to do this. He wasn’t raised knowing God, but he had heard of the miracles that Jesus had performed. The soldier knew he could not do it alone. He needed the help that only Jesus can provide.

Even when the soldier wasn’t entirely sure, he placed his faith in Jesus to help in desperate times, and He delivered. Tell God today where you need help in your life, and trust that He will help!
