Family: My lovely wife Martha and beautiful children Samuel, Mary, and Thomas
Hometown: Born in Chicago, IL, and reared in Lake Zurich, IL, a northwest suburb of the city
Educational Background: Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University;
Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Iowa State University
Career Background: I am the Assistant Executive Director of the Indiana Dental Association. It is a professional association chapter of the American Dental Association. Jokingly, that means all other duties as assigned, but I help Indiana dentists daily with business, regulation, and membership questions, and with the dental school. I frequently speak statewide on various topics.
I am also an adjunct faculty with Indiana Wesleyan University teaching marketing, consumer behavior, and international issues in business in the evenings.
Hobbies: Whatever my kids are doing, reading, computer games (strategy, puzzles, and ones that involve the hero – me – defeating the bad guys). I would like to get back to painting.
Best part about his job: It is God's way of taking care of my family and still allows me to do the work of His church. I like people and helping them. It provides plenty of variety of tasks, events, and people. I love being around all kinds of people who are at various stages of knowing God and discussing, encouraging, and nudging them closer to Jesus.
Interesting things to know about Jay:
- I love comic books, but it is still disappointing that you cannot grow up to be Batman
- My first job out of college was at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chicago. I met dozens of celebrities on the job: Carol Burnett, Mister T, U2, Mayor Richard Daley, Don King, Steve Martin, Lee Iacocca, and Michael Jackson (before he was crazy) to name a few.
- In 1991, I made a life list of 98 things to do before I die. Many are completed already.
