Working with counselors from Northern Light Christian Counseling, Traders Point Christian Church offers counseling that is biblical, effective, available, and affordable. We encourage you to make wise use of this valuable resource.
TPCC is proud to offer free parenting workshops led by Paul A. Ober MSW, LCSW. Each Tuesday workshop is offered twice for your convenience and will be held at TPCC in Room 115 at 7 p.m. To attend, please RSVP to Sheri El at 769.5557 or sel@tpcc.org.
We live in an imperfect world, and so we all experience accidents, the death of a loved one, and other unexpected, situational crises. Christian counseling provides an immediate sense of calm, facilitates clear thinking, offers biblical reassurance, and initiates strategic recovery.
Many individuals have grown up in families characterized by abuse and neglect. Even good families can fail to teach the skills necessary for coping with depression, anxiety, and fear. Personal counseling from a Christian perspective gently challenges and changes long-standing dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors.
Many churches (Traders Point included) wisely require engaged couples to get some basic premarital testing and counseling. Premarital counseling from a Christian perspective, offered both in group and individual formats, clarifies the meaning and purpose of marriage, assists couples in preparing to take their vows, and encourages them to learn and practice healthy communication, conflict resolution, and spiritual life skills.
An unstable, unsatisfying marriage or family can make life miserable. Arguments often escalate into angry confrontations with no resolution. Children can rebel, become discouraged, and withdraw from family involvement, making them more vulnerable to alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, and violence. Marriage and family counseling from a Christian perspective interrupts destructive communication patterns, rebuilds trust through repentance and forgiveness, teaches parenting skills, and strengthens family commitment.
Divorce, job change, relocation, and the demands of school can put tremendous pressure on children. Christ-centered counseling can help parents understand and minister to their children during these difficult times. It also helps children cope with the changes and challenges they face daily.
Many personal and family difficulties revolve around career issues. Some people have difficulty securing work. Others find themselves chronically dissatisfied or unable to earn an adequate income. Career counseling from a Christian perspective helps identify God-given talents and interests, determine a workable job-search strategy, and follow through with positive action.
Those wrestling with alcohol, drug abuse, pornography, and other addictive behaviors have found the 12-Steps provide a comprehensive strategy for repentance and restoration. Christian counseling from this perspective incorporates biblical teaching, professional guidance, and a high level of personal accountability to assist the recovery-minded individual, family, and/or group.
We offer a variety of free workshops. Call or email for details. In addition, churches, Bible school classes, youth groups, and small groups can arrange for special workshops dealing with important issues in personal, marriage, or family life.

(For MAP-qualified persons, the cost may be much less. See the MAP details below.)
To keep costs low, we do not accept insurance. Upon request, we can provide the information (diagnosis codes, etc.) necessary for clients to file their own forms. Reimbursement goes directly to the client.
Members, visitors attending, and those referred by Traders Point Christian Church members are automatically qualified for the Members’ Assistance Program (MAP). The goal is to make Christ-centered professional counseling immediately accessible and affordable.
