Family Dedication –
Why Dedicate Your Child?
At Traders Point Christian Church we value children and families. Children are one of the many blessings that God gives us which are both exciting and scary at the same time. Biblical parenting is not something that just happens naturally, it needs to be intentional. Traders Point Christian Church and the Nursery Ministry seeks to come alongside parents as they start out on their parenting journey to equip them and get them started on the right foot in their God-given roles.
Family Dedication is one way that we can achieve this partnership. The name has evolved over the years from “Baby” Dedication to “Family” Dedication because we are aware that this process is really the parent’s outward commitment to the Lord, not the baby’s commitment/acknowledgement. We also recognize that families change as the years go by for a variety of reasons. Our prayer is that by making this commitment, parents become more intentional in raising their children in a Godly manner and relying on His strength to get them through each day.
In order to participate in Family Dedication Day, we ask that you be a member of our church. Click here to learn more about membership. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Troyer at .
Family Dedication is a Four-Step Process
Step 1 Learn—Listen to three short "parenting talks” here on the website. Complete the simple homework assignments that can be downloaded here. Prepare a video of why you are participating in the Family Dedication. This is done with our video staff.
Step 2 Celebrate—Attend Family Dedication Celebration. At this time you'll also connect with other parents and spend some time discussing the homework from Step 1.
Step 3 Commit—Participate in the Family Dedication Ceremony on Sunday. This is your opportunity to commit before God and the congregation that you will raise your children according to God's standards.
Step 4 Connect—Join a group with other parents in our church to give and get support. We'll discuss several options during the Family Dedication.
